Who we are, where we came from, and where we're headed

NO DETAIL OVERLOOKED

What started as a labor of love after their own wedding planning experience, founders Candice and Brian Grant knew they had to change the status quo for events. West Michigan needed better. 

It needed event spaces built for the specific needs of hosts and their guests; spaces that could be customized to create the most special and memorable experiences. Old industrial buildings were trendy, but the details were always overlooked.

 

In early 2020, Port 393 opened its doors to its first event. Built from the ground up, this lake view urban-chic space has since hosted thousands of parties, weddings, galas and corporate events for West Michigan and beyond. 

A few years and a global pandemic later, the team saw a need in the market for a larger venue surrounded by nature. Enter Ivy House - the only greenhouse event property in Saugatuck, MI. This 7 acre property boasts multiple buildings, a full bar and catering kitchen, and of course, an all-season greenhouse. 

Since the first time we threw open our doors, our mission has been to help you and your guests have an incredible time and create lasting memories.

Owner

Candice Grant is the visionary co-founder of The Grant Collection, known for her creative approach to elevating event experiences and continuously seeking innovative ways to exceed client expectations. With a passion for growth, both personally and professionally, she thrives on transforming ideas into unforgettable moments for clients and their guests.

Brian Grant

Owner

Brian Grant is a driven entrepreneur and sales leader who turned a successful career in medical sales into the launch of The Grant Collection. He brings sharp business instincts, a growth mindset, and a passion for delivering exceptional client experiences.

Linda Shipman

Corporate Events Manager

Linda Shipman is the Corporate Event Manager at The Grant Collection, where she brings energy, strategy, and a client-first mindset to every event. With a background in communications and a passion for working with corporate clients and non-profits, she loves seeing events come to life and clients walk away fulfilled. Outside of work, she enjoys entertaining, playing pickleball, and exploring creative home projects.

Ellyse Perkin

Marketing Manager

Ellyse Perkin is the Marketing Manager at The Grant Collection, where she has quickly advanced from Marketing Assistant to Marketing Specialist and then Coordinator. With a degree in Marketing and a minor in Digital Media from Cornerstone University, she combines creativity, organization, and an eye for photography to drive impactful marketing campaigns. In her free time, Ellyse enjoys reading, spending time with loved ones, and staying active outdoors.

Emma Woltjer

Business & Creative Administrator

Emma Woltjer is the Business & Creative Administrator at The Grant Collection, where she combines her passion for design with strategic operational planning. Since joining in May 2023, she’s moved up from Administrative Assistant and now leads creative projects and business systems with a detail-oriented, entrepreneurial mindset. Outside of work, you’ll likely find her running, thrifting, or exploring new restaurants with friends.

Mackenzie Bishop

Culture & Performance Manager

Mackenzie Bishop is the HR Specialist at The Grant Collection, where she transitioned from an Event Manager to HR in 2024 as the business and team grew. With a passion for people, creativity, and the wedding industry, she enjoys encouraging others and helping them thrive. Outside of work, Mackenzie loves crafting, exploring West Michigan, and enjoying coffee dates with her husband.

Client Relationship Specialist 

Abigail Romanelli is the Client Relationship Specialist at The Grant Collection, where she combines her detail-oriented nature and love for connection to create a smooth, enjoyable experience for every client. A graduate of Aquinas College, she’s passionate about helping others enjoy the same stress-free experience she once had as a Grant Collection bride.

Bar Manager

Stephen Rich is the Bar Manager at The Grant Collection, bringing over ten years of hospitality experience and a passion for creating seamless, joyful guest experiences. With a background in archaeology and a love for event logistics, he ensures every detail behind the bar runs smoothly. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, board games, and relaxing with his wife and dog.

Systems & Operations Coordinator

Mackenna Byrd is the Systems and Operations Coordinator at The Grant Collection, bringing a passion for hospitality and a talent for creating seamless, memorable experiences. With a degree in Advertising and Public Relations from Grand Valley State University, she loves helping clients’ visions come to life and ensuring every detail runs smoothly. Outside of work, she enjoys card games with friends, coffee outings, and relaxing with her cat and a good book.
